EasyWorship: Heart and Soul

Tone and Feel can be seen or felt in most areas of life. You can tell when you’re in a situation that doesn’t feel right. If it doesn’t reflect goodness, wholesomeness, or integrity, you are aware.   We all know the saying, “Where the heart is …”.

This telling realization can sometimes be shocking, especially if things do not feel right in your organization. I have always said, “it starts at the top”. Meaning, that whoever or whatever is leading the organization, the influence and reflection can be seen or felt in the environment, attitude, and core values of that group. And so it is with worship assemblies, para-church organizations, and yes, even software companies.

Having been around Softouch Development, the parent company of EasyWorship Software, for about 15 years, I have a pretty good feel for what is going on.

Early-on, when there were only 3 of us, and we were so excited to have sold our 1400th copy of Easyworship, it was all about “God gets the glory”.  It was clear to me that the owner and our boss, Jeff Taylor, was more interested in distraction-free worship than about fame or market share.  He held me back from being too competitive. He gave me counsel as to why we existed.  I saw then that this company was going to have a tone of humility and servitude.

The very fact that the name of the software has easy in it, was a reflection of the desire of Jeff’s heart.  He gently propelled that thought into every atmosphere touched by the software.  He saw the need for worship software to be so user-friendly that any volunteer would be able to display what was needed in a worship assembly, college classroom, or conference…. so that all could worship without distraction, including the operator. So even though it is easy-to-use, it’s the message that becomes the most important!  It is God’s presence that changes everything, and therefore can change anyone!  So, EasyWorship had to fit that mantra!

I have seen this played out in our own church.  As a worship leader myself, I rely upon the person sitting behind the computer to help me project what is needed, so that every person, from every seat, could see clearly and hear plainly the message!

I have such great young and old worship technicians on my team.  It consists of a 13-year-old girl from the youth group, a 63-year-old grandmother, a director of a mental health organization, and a single mom…all of them worshipers!  They actually sing and worship while sitting behind the computer and operating EasyWorship. It is a testimony to the Tone the software sets.

I am convinced that if the apostle Paul had a laptop and portable projector, he would have made sure that those staring at the words on the synagogue wall, understood this point! It is not about the technology! It’s about Christ and Him crucified!

So … things have not changed in the way that Satan tries to corrupt any good thing. And it is a constant battle at your church, your office, in your business, and even in technology.

The Main thing is … that THE Main thing …  is YOUR Main Thing!

I need to see Jesus!  Perhaps, in some way, Easyworship can help you do the same!
