When designing scripture slides, it’s important to keep them in the context of the images used for the sermon. If possible, ask the pastor for the images that he used to create his sermon slides so that your scripture slides are in sync.
Just a few tips before we start going over some possible ways you can design your scripture slides. Under Edit > Options, you can adjust whether you have verse numbers or the reference appear. You can also decide where you want the reference to be shown and other details that you can personalize for your house of worship.
For our first design, we’ll start off with something basic. Just an image and some text.
1) Basic Scripture Design
If you have a background that isn’t too busy for text, then you can simple take the background, format the scripture text as you want and present.
2) Double Background Design
If you have a background that doesn’t have room for text or might be too busy, simply add another background that has more room for text. Layer it so you can still see the background and keep the continuity from one slide to the next. Then adjust your scripture text (outline, shadow, left aligned or center aligned) and present.
3) Lower Third, Pt. 1
Another option is to take the second background and move it down to create a lower third. To do this, you will need to go into Inspector and under Media un-select the “Constrain Properties”.
Then move your scripture text down to fill in the lower third. This may take more adjusting as your text might not all fit on one slide. Be patient and work with it to make sure that everyone can still read the text.
Then, if you want, you can use your first background for imagery or add another image to help illustrate the text. Don’t underestimate the power of an image with your scripture slides. 🙂
4) Lower Third, Pt. 2
Or feel free to just do the lower third and keep you background blank so that you can project this over your live feed! With our NDI integration, it’s super easy to project a lower third like this over your live feed. For more info, check out our blog post on live streaming or NDI.
Hopefully, this gives you some ideas for designing your own scripture slides. If you liked the slides I used in this post, you can purchase them here and here.
