HOW to INSTALL AND USE NEW FONTS

Our computers come with standard pre-loaded fonts. When it comes to creating new designs in EasyWorship for worship, announcements or sermon slides, you may want to expand your font options. But be careful! Going to the wrong site and downloading the wrong file can cause your computer to crash from downloading a virus. So, we’re here to offer you some solutions for getting the new fonts you desire, without crashing your computer.

SITES TO USE

There are a couple of sites that we trust to safely download fonts. These are free to use so they won’t cost you anything but time to get them installed.

1) Google Fonts – https://fonts.google.com/

This is one of my favorite places to go first. If you want fonts that are current and relevant when it comes to design, Google will have some great standard fonts to get you going.

At the top of the site, you can search for a specific font you want or you can preview how a sentence would look in the different fonts as you browse. You can also sort by category, language, and font properties, such as the thickness or slant of the font.

2) Dafont – https://www.dafont.com/

Dafont has more selection to their font options. So if you’re looking for something more eclectic or seasonal, this is the site for you.

They have detailed categories that you can click on to find a certain font or you can search by name if you know the name of the font you want. If you want to see what a sentence would look like in that font, you can click on the font to get to a details page. At the top of the details page, you can type in what you would like to see and it will show it to you on the site.

This site isn’t as clean as Google Fonts, but has more options and more categories to search through.

HOW TO INSTALL

Now that you’ve searched through the sites and found the font that you want to use, download it! Here’s how to install it onto your computer:

  1. Open your Downloads folder
  2. Right-click the font folder you downloaded and select Extract All.
  3. Open the .otf file
  4. In the top left-hand corner of the .otf file, select “Install”.
  5. Once the installation is complete, close and re-open EasyWorship and the new font will be in the software, ready to use!

Now you’re ready to add more fonts to your library and more options for your worship, sermon and announcement slides. Have fun creating!
