It happens. It’s Saturday night. A volunteer calls in sick. You’re shorthanded. Or… the worship leader adds another song last minute, right before service starts. Sunday mornings aren’t always easy and breezy. But when it comes to the way your slides look, it should be.
Themes in EasyWorship are broken into three different categories: Song, Scripture and Presentation, and are a great way for you to save some great go-to looks for that last minute addition, or for when you have a new person running slides and all you have to show them is the easy click-and-drag. Here’s a breakdown of why:
1) Background
Your background sets the tone. It can enhance what’s on the slide or detract. It can make the words on the screen easy to read or make you want to avert your eyes.
Whether the background you choose already has space for text, or you need to edit it so that the text fits, creating a theme reduces the guesswork for whoever is operating the slides during your service. When you create or edit a Theme, place the text exactly where you want it or add an element to the background to make the text easier to read. Clicking OK will save it so that the next time you or someone else uses that Theme, it will always look great! One example would be to create your Holiday Themes. It will save time the next year when you create your schedules to be able to use your Easter or Christmas Themes that have already been saved in your Themes tab.
2) Font
When you create an EasyWorship Theme for songs, scriptures or presentations, your font style is already selected for you depending on your Default Font settings. You may like it the way it is, or not. Whatever you want for your font, whether it’s the actual font type, more shadow or less outline, adjust it using the Inspector in the Theme Editor and save it to that theme.
Maybe you want a more cursive look for a Christmas slide or something a little more fun for a youth group announcement. Customize it for what you need and then save it so you don’t have to figure it out each time.
3) Scripture Options
In a previous blog post, we went into the details of how you can edit the format of how a scripture is projected. With Themes, you can save that format to be used again and again without having to go in each time and edit the scripture. Whether you want the reference point on the top or on the bottom. Whether you want the scripture in the middle or on the bottom and create a lower third for a live stream. Either way, your preferences will be saved in that Theme and can be easily added on to your schedule with a click and a drag or set as the Default if you want it to always look that way.
Themes are just one more way EasyWorship helps make your life easier. Whether creating your schedules in EasyWorship, going live to a song on the fly, or even setting up a new song or presentation minutes before service starts. With Themes, you can do all the last minute stuff that comes with your job and make your media team look like pros.
