At times, leading others in your church can feel overwhelming. How do we take care of so many while honoring God and taking care of ourselves? The answer? Grace. Such a small yet powerful word. Grace means a lot of things to a lot of people. To some it is mercy. To others it is a way of conducting oneself. To followers of Christ, grace is how we receive God’s goodness and share it with others.
In the second chapter of Luke, we find it said that as Jesus grew from childhood to adulthood He “became strong in Spirit, filled with wisdom and the grace of God.” This grace gave Him the favor and ability to do what God had sent Him to the earth to do.
We, as God’s children, are also given the favor and ability to do what we are called to do through grace. This may mean the grace to teach a Sunday school class or the grace to plan a senior outing. This may mean the grace to lead worship or the grace to greet visitors. No matter what our role, we do it all by grace.
Ephesians 2:7 tells us that “God has us where He wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.”
