How to Bring the Final Frontier to Your Screen, Pt 2

Continuing our journey into the final frontier, we’re going to look at another way to make space backgrounds work for you and the congregation you serve. 🙂 For this next example, I’m using the Out There Earth motion by Shift Worship.

Since we used a super bright motion last time, I wanted to try something not so bright for this post. But as you can see, I have a hard time not adding some color to it. For this motion as well as the other one, you can easily fill your text box with black or dark blue and call it a day. If you want to branch out a little, follow the instructions below!

• Create a new Song Theme in EasyWorship.
• Open the Inspector.
• Add the Out There Earth motion as a background.
• Resize the text box to fit the text as shown in the image.
• Add another text box by selecting the “Text” button on the top bar.
• Resize the additional text box to fill the whole background. Note how I have the edges of this additional text box past the background. This is just to make sure that the whole background image is covered. If need be at this time, send this additional text box to the back, by clicking on “Arrange” at the top right and selecting “Send to Back”.
• Open Inspector.
• Select the additional text box, and then go to Inspector and select “Fill” under Element.

• For the Fill Style, select Gradient Fill.
• For the Gradient Style, go to the Horizontal options and select the 1^st option on the left.
• For the Gradient Colors, the color on the left should be Violet (3^rd row, 7^th column). The color on the right should be Dark Blue (1^st row, 6^th column)
• Adjust Opacity to 48.
• With Inspector still open, select the actual text box where the lyrics will go.
• In Inspector, select “Outline” under Text and remove the outline.

• Click on “Shadow” under Text and adjust the following:
  1. Change the color of the shadow to Violet (3^rd row, 7^th column).
  2. Change the Angle of the shadow to 300.
  3. Offset – 13
  4. Blur – 3
  5. Opacity – 89
• Close Inspector, name this new Theme, and select OK. You’re finished!

Feel free to adjust opacity on the gradient fill and shadow to your liking and also feel free to adjust the angle of the shadow to your liking. If the colors of the gradient and the shadow aren’t working for your projector, play around with different colors, but keep it coordinated. For instance, I used one of the colors of the gradient in the shadow and I also incorporated blue in the gradient, which is in the background, so it blends better. I chose purple for the 2^nd color of gradient; because purple blends easily into blue seeing as blue is a part of purple.

So, have fun and play around and see if you find something you like better. Just remember at the end of the day, people need to read the lyrics more than see the background. It’s all about clear communication. Design isn’t good if it doesn’t communicate clearly.
